After trying the crab broth ramen at the Keisuke outlet at Cineleisure Orchard, it seemed natural that one also had to try their lobster ramen at Clarke Quay. Finally, I managed to find a time to go down to the Clarke Quay which only opens from 6pm onwards in the evenings (I really do wish they would consider opening during lunch time as well!)
A and I reached the outlet around 6.30pm in the evening. Surprisingly, there wasn’t a queue at all (the queue only really grew at from around 7.30pm onwards). We were seated at the front counter, right in front of the area where they prepare the drinks. I was rather amused to see that they had a well stocked supply of Japanese whisky – presumably for the highballs on the drinks menu.
We tried the following:
Miso spicy lobster broth ramen with flavoured egg ($17.90)
Each of our bowls came with a full soft boiled egg, wonton, chicken / pork char siew and the usual ramen toppings such as bamboo shoots and black fungus
This bowl truly has a spicy kick. However, A felt that the spicy taste overwhelmed the lobster broth a little.
Lobster broth ramen with flavoured egg ($16.90)
This is the bowl to order if you truly want to get a taste of the lobster in the broth. Very rich – almost to the point of being a little overwhelming if you were one of those who love to leave your ramen bowl empty.
Between the lobster broth and the crab broth, the crab broth had the slight edge for me. Nevertheless, I thought it was a great bowl of ramen, loved the variety of ramen toppings, from the wonton to the chicken char siew.
We also ordered one of their side dishes to share, stir fried mushrooms. This was just all right. Order only if you need something extra with the ramen.
