Managed to try this place out during one of my more flexible days at lunch time. My office is just a short walk from Asia square and thankfully they had available seats so we decided to try out some of their lunch sets here. Folks Collective serves Thai fusion food and seems to have quite value for money lunch sets (presumably meant to appeal to the working lunch crowd)
The lunch sets range from $9.90 onwards and come presented in really cute tiffin carriers. We tried two of their lunch sets:
SET A: Massaman Chicken Curry /Dory Neung Manao Steamed dory with a chilli and lime dressing/ FOLKS Spring Rolls/ Steamed Jasmine Rice
SET B: Mini Street Omelette/ Green Chicken Curry Coconut based curry with pumpkin and potato/ FOLKS Spring Rolls/ Steamed Jasmine Rice
When it first appeared, the portions appeared a little small, but they were actually more than sufficient to fill any hungry person. It was great seeing all the plates displayed before us too as it provided for heaps of variety (and great contrast of colour too! We do eat with our eyes!).
The food was really really tasty. They do make some really good curries. Definitely wouldn’t mind coming back again. Only thing I would take note of is that the outdoor area of Folks Collective tends to catch the wrong end of the sun during lunch time, so depending on whether you sit, you could find yourself sitting under the hot glare of the sun (we saw one table actually change seats because of this). Try to sit inside if possible!
