I’ve been back at work (have finally graduated yay!) for the past four weeks. I don’t actually miss school that much, it has been nice to be back in routine again. Office politics however? That’s a different story.
Now, one of the fun things about going back to work at Raffles Place is getting to eat some of my favourite foods. Foods that I fondly remember from my internship days. Unfortunately, my office building is located quite a walk away from Raffles Place MRT. As such, it’s quite hard to persuade my colleagues to walk all the way back especially when most days, we are mainly concerned with grabbing a quick lunch nearby and running back to the office to rush work.
In the last four weeks, thankfully, there was one day where I found myself with no lunch buddy and with some time to spare. Hence, I decided to take advantage and take the 10 minute walk back to Golden Shoe Complex to have some curry bee hoon.
It’s extremely popular but you know it’s good if a stall can sell just one dish and survive for so many years. The queues can be long, but service is quick. Just 2 prices, $5.50 or $6.50. Pick your noodle (I like to go for a mix of bee hoon and yellow noodles) and you’re set.
Prices are not cheap, but the portions are indeed generous. Ample servings of chicken, fish cake, potato and curry soaked tofu puffs (Hello! Are you listening?). The gravy is full of flavour and has that perfect balance of spice. It is so good, that I could slurp the whole bowl and not feel too “jelat” (overwhelmed) about it.
Definitely one of my favourite places to go for lunch in Raffles place – when I have the time and am willing to make the walk back.
