Was browsing through Instagram and saw that T had posted a picture of her acai berry fruit bowl together with a New Year’s resolution to eat healthy. I was intrigued. I’ve had acai berry chocolates before but never seen a place dedicated to just the acai berry itself. When I had to make a trip to school, I decided to give try it out since one of their branches was nearby.
Thank god there was no one there when I got to the shop. I was basically looking at the menu trying to figure out how this menu worked. As it turns out, you just have to decide if you want the bowl or just a smoothie. If you choose the bowl, you just decide between the fruit (original) or the nut option.
I went for the fruit bowl, which is made up of a blended acai base, topped with granola, fresh fruits, blueberries, bee pollen, cacao nibs, coconut shavings, chia seeds and goji berries. Clearly, effort is put into presentation. For a healthy dessert, it was actually pretty tasty (which makes me wonder whether they use any sugar… hmmm…)
My only gripe would be the price. The smallest bowl would cost $6.80, followed by the medium ($9.30) and the large ($14.50). I had the medium as the small version look really teeny weeny. I joked to T that one Acai bowl cost double my lunch!
Well, no one ever said healthy was cheap!
