Despite living very close to NEX, I’ve probably visited the shopping centre less than 5 times. When Y arranged to meet me there for lunch today, I realized what an stupid ostrich I’ve been. The mall is like super huge and there are like so many different eateries – definitely points for variety.
It was my first time to Hot Tomato, despite the chain being a very established one. Due to its reasonable prices for western food, the restaurant was pretty packed during lunch time, though thankfully I did not have to wait for a table.
Just to give a sense of how reasonable the prices were, I had the steak and prawn main ($13.90) and by adding the set meal price of ($2.50), I got their soup of their day (tomato soup) and a drink.
The portions are pretty generous, I would say it was probably a 160g piece of steak with two prawns and a decent serving of pasta and salad. It was all very tasty and I liked how the steak had a nice sear on it, along with the grill marks. The steak was served just how I had requested it – medium rare.
Y had the pork chop and accompanying sausages which also came with pasta and salad
Western food is not the cheapest cuisine in Singapore. However, many Singaporeans do enjoy it. Hot Tomato does a good job of offering decent western grill meals at reasonable prices. Service is pretty prompt as well, we did not have to wait too long for our food.
