The Assembly Ground

The Cathay is one of the few shopping centers that is located near my university. It has a small selection of eating places, but I like it because it tends to be quieter than other shopping centers and hence, I’m more likely to find a seat if I need to chill for a few hours.

I’ve been to the Assembly Ground a few times and I’ve enjoyed it for the quiet ambiance, free wifi and good food. The restaurant is also known for its specialty coffees, which unfortunately is wasted on me since I do not take coffee.

Regardless, the Assembly Ground does have a variety of foods, ranging from brunch dishes to pastas and salads. Was able to try the following during my visits:

The Assembly Brunch ($19.50) – Scrambled eggs, sausage, sauteed mushrooms, potato gratin, roasted cherry tomatoes, toast, bacon.

Pulled BBQ Chicken sandwich ($15.50) – Rotisserie chicken, caramelized onions, jalapenos, cilantro, monterey jack cheese

Mac and cheese ($17.50) – macaroni and cheese and beef hash and sausage

Chicken and mango salad ($12)

Overall, I don’t think that the Assembly Ground has any dishes that stand out distinctively, but if what you’re looking for is just classic western dishes executed well, this is the place to go to.
